Holiday Apartment at Fort Augustus - The owners

An introduction to Andy & Rosemary

Andy at Lochan Torr an TuillWe live at Inverfarigaig on the banks of the river Farigaig, near to where it enters Loch Ness, at Inverfarigaig. We are  always  on hand if needed, but usually noticeable by our absence. We do not intrude on your privacy unless invited!

During the time we have owned the holiday home at Fort Augustus Abbey, we have tried to make it high quality by buying the best furnishings and fitting available but at the same time we have kept the emphasis on comfort and homeliness.

Rosemary at the Faigaig forest lochanWe do our best to ensure that the apartment exceeds your expectations. A big thank you to those who have given us positive feedback!

We are always mindful about the environment and In the kitchen you will find a range of "Ecover" environmentally friendly cleaning materials and detergents for your use and where appropriate we use environmentally friendly low energy light bulbs. See the Loch Ness Cottages environmental policy statement.

At home the birds are fed regularly throughout the year and are rewarded with hours of amusement watching them at the table.

Roe deer at InverfarigaigThe red squirrels are quite common here and visit our garden frequently looking for the hazelnuts which grow in abundance in the Farigaig forest. During the Autumn you will see them busily gathering them for their winter stores. Sika and roe deer are regular visitors and are frequently seen walking the boundaries.

We have badgers visit our garden every night for the peanuts we put out for them. They really seem to be undisturbed by the lights from the house on them, which is of course all the better for us to view them!!

Last but not least, we were lucky enough to acquire 90 acres of agricultural land a few years ago. We have since removed this land from agriculture and planted the whole area with 20,000 native trees with the aim of creating a native woodland reserve, this ongoing project is our most rewarding pastime, and we spend many happy hours tending the trees in our spare time. The whole area is to be donated to the Scottish Woodland Trust at a time when we are no longer able to take care of it.
